Ethanol Blended Petrol

India's new E20 fuel blend (20% ethanol, 80% petrol) aims to cut emissions and reduce oil imports.

Hey @kapsology this is my experience. 17.1 kmpl in March 2025 and 12.5 kmpl on 1st Aug. Same trip, same driving conditions, but this saw a 25% decrease in mileage. The arrogance of this govt while taking the most cruel and inconsiderate decisions, making us suffer is

I have a test for you. Refill your car with Ethanol 20 blended petrol (Available at all petrol pumps now) and leave it for 15-20 days if you can. Do not do anything. After 20 days, take your car out and see how it has impacted your fuel tank.

The concerning part about this is that most existing vehicles are designed for E10 or lower, leading to engine issues, corrosion, and lower mileage.

Ethanol absorbs water, which can harm fuel systems and reduce performance in older cars and two-wheelers.

Until vehicles are fully E20-compatible, users may face higher maintenance costs and inconsistent fuel efficiency.

This is a daylight robbery, to be honest.

How to raise our voice against this?
